COALATREE TRAILHEAD PANTS REVIEW

BEST OUTDOOR PANTS

If you’re looking for your next “everything pants,” the Coalatree’s Trailhead Pants are it! The Trailhead Pants are made of a durable, water-resistant, wind-resistant, anti-microbial material that keeps you dry and comfortable while you’re out and about.

FABRIC AND FIT

The fabric is lightweight and breathable, making them great for a variety of activities. It takes a couple hours to “break” these pants in as they were slightly stiff out of the box. But once you’ve worn them in, they’re extremely comfortable. The 4-way stretch fabric makes these adventure pants ideal for any activity and due to the adjustable waistband, they don’t slip – even when the pockets are full. In addition to the adjustable waistband, they also have belt loops! I loved this for the fact I can hook my keys to my pants.

If you want to roll these pants up, you can do so with the ankle cuffs, but in all honesty, I haven’t used this feature. Once I forgot to tie the cuffs and the draw strings were dragging on the floor. I ended up tightening them and folding the bottom of the pants though to tuck in/hide the ankle drawstrings.

SIZING

You can order these pants in a slim or regular fit. Since these are unisex, the sizing is a little tricky. I got a Medium, Regular (I’m 5’5, 135 lbs) and after trying them on, I realized I probably could have gotten the small. I chose not to exchange them though because I liked the loose fit.

VERSATILITY

One of the best features of the Trailhead Pants is their versatility. Since they don’t look like traditional hiking pants, they can be worn with a variety of outfits and used for pretty much any activity. Since I’m a minimalist packer, this makes them the perfect travel pant for me. I can wear them to the beach, museums, cafes, on hikes and more. The Trailhead Pants are also incredibly comfortable. The fabric is soft and stretchy, allowing you to move freely without feeling restricted.

WATERPROOFING

I ran out in the (Southern California) rain to test them out and they held up, though I did start to feel the coolness of the water after a while in a heavy down pour. For the purpose of light rain though, these are great!

What I love about Coalatree is how eco-minded they are. They use vegetable based fluorine-free DWR coating to waterproof their gear!

POCKETS

I’ve officially made these my new go-to airport pants. The pockets are HUGE, and no matter which way you bend, things just don’t fall out! Also, these pants pack right into their own pocket. The front two pockets easily store your phone, keys, and other small items. I can even fit a Hydroflask in there! There are two additional pockets in the back, one of which closes with Velcro.

Also, the pants pack into the left pocket.

COLORS

I have these pants in olive as it really pops, but there are plenty of neutral colors, making them easy to match with any outfit. You can get these pants in black, dark blue, sand, grey, olive, or brown.

WASHING

Since these pants are coated with waterproofing material, Coalatree recommends washing them with cold water and hanging them to dry.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I was thrilled Coalatree sent me the Trailhead Pants to review. I’ve been wearing them for literally everything and they haven’t disappointed! My favorite thing about these pants are the pockets. With phone screen sizes getting bigger and bigger, I’m so happy about the fact my phone fits comfortably in these pockets and I still have plenty of room left for other items. Also, due to the deep pockets, I don’t have to worry about anything sliding out when I’m bending or getting out of the car (anyone else have this issue?!) So if you’re in the market for any sort of travel/adventure/hiking pants, definitely consider Coalatree’s Trailhead Pants!
