The Making of The Mountains Film
Who am I?
My name is Syd Ostendorf and I am the CEO and founder of No Society Media, a Salt Lake City based company that specializes in video and photo content for brands. My primary goal with No Society Media is to tell stories and messages for companies that people can connect with. That was the driving force for this short film.Creating the Idea
The Mountains is a short film that is about taking a break from the day to day things that can be overwhelming and getting back to nature in order to think clearly for a moment. I first came up with the concept in early January after driving up the canyon. Going for a mountain drive is something that I love to do and it helps me to take a break from everyday things. That was the story and feeling that I wanted to communicate in this film.
After I came up with the story of this film, I knew that I wanted to partner with a company that was passionate about being in nature. I learned of Coalatree when they came to speak at Lassonde Studios at the University of Utah. After seeing their products, I thought that the Evolution Hoodie, made from recycled coffee grounds and their Camper Jacket would be a great fit for the feel of this film. So, I reached out to Brandon at Coalatree about a collaboration and we were off.Partnering with Coalatree
Making the Film
While making this film we went through two different locations, unpredictable weather and one crashed drone. But in the end, everything worked out and this film is one that I am very proud of and happy to share with a company like Coalatree. Films like this are some of my favorites to make and I hope to do many more in the future.
